As the song says: “you’ll fall in the end, it’s just a question of time.” If you are afraid to fail or you think you can achieve a better situation at a later date, you will never make much progress. You might succeed and even gain a new skill, but you will not improve. The moment you think you will fail, you will. The fall is inevitable. You will fall. For this reason, we must be joyful with one foot that is already raised. You are not going to fail if you take the first step. The fear of falling is something that the mind can overcome. As a philosopher says: “if you fall, you fall into the arms of your nature, which is love.” In fact, if you fall, your love will be greatly enhanced. The only way to be happy and live a useful and meaningful life is to be joyful. You will not accomplish anything if you live with fear. You will become bitter, and you will be unhappy for the rest of your life. Everything that is worth trying will be difficult. The only sure way to get through life is to begin. Nothing is more powerful than the first step. The fall can be a benefit, not a tragedy. One may also think about the spiritual message: “as long as the Lord has a place for you, you can fall.” Some people might think that they will not belong to the Lord, but the truth is that it is the Lord who belongs to us.
